Peter Clemmons settled the area in 1802, but the town did not incorporate until December of 1986. Most of what we measure here went up long before that. Subdivisions started filling in during the late 1950s, and those blocks are full of brick ranches with wide, short windows. A long shade looks stubby on that shape. Two-inch faux wood blinds handle the proportion better, and the horizontal slat line matches the way the house already reads.

Tanglewood Park anchors the south side of town. William Neal Reynolds and his wife began laying the grounds out in 1921, and the county has owned the park since 1951.
