Ardmore is the largest historic district in the city. It covers roughly 600 acres and more than 4,000 homes, and building started there in 1914. Craftsman bungalows, American Foursquares, and Colonial Revivals sit on the same block. The windows are usually original wood sash set deep in the opening, and plenty of them still carry their first sash locks and lift hooks. West End was laid out as a streetcar suburb between about 1887 and 1930, and the streets curve with the hillside.
